My Grandson's Vocabulary

The first word that came out of his mouth was Achachhan (അച്ചച്ഛൻ). 

This may be because of my continuous association with him from his sixth month onwards.  By this time his mother had joined a private company.  She leaves home by eight o'clock and returns by around seven o'clock.  Since COVID period, she would touch him ony after her bath. His father was in Kalpetta and used to come home once in a week.  His grand mother had always been after her daily chores.  Even then his second word was Achamma  (അച്ഛമ്മ).  

Now he is nearing his second birth anniversary. Now he speaks, combining two or three words. Nannu lam venam (നന്നു ലം വേണം) meaning I want water.

He is running his toy car. His grandma is sweeping the floor. When he reaches behind her he says, 'mari nikk achhamma, meaning, move away grandma.  He points to every thing and asks 'athentha?'  When he is on the ladder placed on the closet to pooh he raises finger at the wall and asks 'athentha?' and when he gets the answer 'bhitthi' or 'chumar' he repeats it like a parrot. Thus he repeats brush, tap, faucit, chool 

( broom) etc. 

Kottuvaya = yawn

ലമ്മില് വീണു പോയി= when he fell in the water spilt on the floor.

ഉണ്ണീ വാ വാ വോ= encouraging his grandma to sing lullaby.

വല്ല്യമ്മ, പാപ്പൻ, അച്ചൻ, അമ്മ, കണ്ണേട്ടൻ, പൊന്നു ചേച്ചി, and so on.  He would sit in the lap of Snigdha, his elder cousin and say 'ചേച്ചിയുടെ മോനെല്ലെ പാവല്ലെ'

He would perch on the plastic chair and say 'അച്ഛൻ്റെ ചെയാറാണ്'.

Sugar he would say പഞ്ചമത്ത.  While stepping down the step he would see ants, and say, ഉറുമ്പ് ഉണ്ട് അഛച്ച'  When he see the spiders he would say 'എട്ടുകാലി ഉണ്ട് അഛച്ച'

'അച്ഛമ്മ എവിടെ പോകാണ്?' He asks whenever his grandma moves from his vicinity.

'മോളിൽ അമ്മ, താഴെ അച്ഛമ്മ'  Every day during his acrobatic on his mother, while she would wish him sleep very soon.

'നാരങ്ങ ഉണ്ട്.' when he sees the packet of lemon in his mother's hand.

'അച്ഛൻ എവിടെ പോയി?'

When he finished the broken cashew nuts, he recollected the rosted groundnut that he ate the other day, and said, 'വേറെ കടല വേണം.'

When his father had been cutting down the stub of custard apple in the day light my grand son who had been watching him through the window said, "വെയിലുണ്ട് അച്ഛാ" (veyilund achha)
